Antique 19th century composition stone fireplace surround. The jambs are decorated with ornate strapwork in the Jacobean manner and terminate with square capitals cast with pronounced roses. A large rose also centres the frieze with further strapwork and acanthus leaf detail, below a deeply stepped mantle shelf.
English. Circa 1840.
The fireplace retains its aged and distressed paint finish. This can be stripped and the stone cleaned if required.
