Czech Easter Lamb cake mould. Inscribed with ‘Orlice’ Orlice is a river in the Czech Republic. Part of the river acts as the international boundary between the Czech Republic and Poland. These cake moulds were also popular in Alsace Northeastern France. There it is called ‘Lamala’ .
Lambs have a long history of symbolic significance: the Paschal lamb has meaning for both Judaism and Christianity. It also has an older meaning, as a sacrificial lamb
The mould still has excellent colour and glaze and no cracks. Circa 1900.
