A large and very fine quality original 19th century Louis XV style fireplace surround in white statuary marble. The profusely carved frieze, protruding from beneath the mantle with large clam shell carved to the center and a festoon of flowers and fruit below, surrounded by scrolls and foliage. The jambs having top scrolls above further fruit and flower carvings. Acanthus scrolls sit above the foot blocks. All beneath a deep and generous serpentine moulded shelf.
