Large antique Victorian cast iron fireplace insert with exceptionally fine cast panels and canopy. The two panels are cast with flowers growing from a classical urn, resting above a delicate water lily in full bloom and beneath a sun partially veiled by wisps of cloud. Traces of the original copper plating remain visible, enhancing the texture and depth of the design. Circa 1880. Removed from a property in Glasgow.
The fireplace is fully restored, finished with traditional black grate polish and is complete with a new clay fireback and cast iron bottom grate (not pictured).
