Large tall antique Art Nouveau Edwardian cast iron combination grate

Stock Number: 4-999

A large and tall antique Art Nouveau Edwardian cast iron and tiled combination fireplace grate. The deep frieze is centred by a large convex dish circled by stylised scrolling foliage and flanked by two highly stylised flowers in the Art Nouveau manner. This fireplace also benefits from a very ornate grate with lion paw feet, brass finials and a decorative drop down front, originally used to stand an iron or kettle on to heat by the fire. Despite its large size, because the tiles run parallel to the wall as opposed to the more commonly found fireplaces where the tiles are chamfered inwards, this fireplace doesn’t need a large fireplace cavity in the wall. For these sizes and more see the size diagram in the image gallery.

English. Dated 1902-1906.
